Intersectional Disparities in Runaway and Thrownaway Experiences Among Youth by Sexual Minority Status and Race/Ethnicity

The article delves into the complex experiences of youth who run away or are thrown away from their homes, with a particular focus on the challenges faced by sexual minority youth. It examines how the intersection of sexual minority status and race/ethnicity can exacerbate these experiences, drawing on data from the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent to Adult Health. The study highlights the unique challenges faced by Black and Hispanic sexual minority youth, who often face additional barriers to support from their families and communities. By exploring these intersectional disparities, the article aims to shed light on the critical but understudied subject of youth homelessness, offering valuable insights for professionals working in social services, mental health, and education.
