Abstract
The negative influence of humans onto nature’s resources and the global environment can briefly be explained on the example of the building industry as one of the main factors. Caused by the rapid expansion of Earth’s human population, new housing has to be realized continuously, for which up to now mainly non-renewable resources are used. The manufacturing of conventional building materials, like steel, concrete or synthetic fiber-reinforced plastics (FRP), and their combustion cause a considerable amount of green house gases, which lead to global warming and climate change.
