Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has had an unprecedented impact on global education systems, disrupting traditional models and exposing deep-seated inequalities. This article explores how the pandemic has reshaped educational justice, focusing on four key distributive arenas: access to education, pedagogical practices, assessment and grading, and teacher-student relationships. The shift to remote learning highlighted the digital divide, with vulnerable students disproportionately affected by lack of access to technology and stable internet connectivity. This disruption has led to a critical re-evaluation of distributive justice principles, emphasizing the need for equitable access to educational resources and opportunities. Pedagogical practices were forced to adapt rapidly, leading to innovative approaches that prioritize student needs and digital literacy. The article also examines how grading policies evolved during the pandemic, balancing meritocratic principles with the need to support students facing unprecedented challenges. Teacher-student relationships were significantly altered by remote learning, with educators struggling to maintain emotional support and engagement. The article concludes by advocating for a reimagined educational justice framework that addresses structural inequalities and promotes inclusive, participatory learning environments. It calls for continued research and dialogue to ensure that the lessons learned from the pandemic drive meaningful educational reform.
