Abstract

This introduction introduces the reader to the major issues of concern in this book which are twofold. First, to assess the presenting attitudes, values and beliefs of new recruits to the police service in the early stages of their police career. Second, to evaluate the key influences upon the formation and development of those attitudes, values and beliefs of new police recruits. This chapter provides a summary of the aims and objectives of each of the subsequent chapters.
