Abstract

This chapter delves into the intricate relationship between the visual design elements of eco-labels and consumer perceptions, emphasizing the crucial role of design in communicating sustainability. It begins by reviewing the existing literature on eco-labels and their impact on consumer behavior, with a particular focus on the influence of visual aesthetics and logo design. The chapter then presents findings from an empirical study that assesses the efficacy of real eco-labels in influencing consumer perceptions and adoption through visual design. Key aesthetic variables, such as psychophysical and collative properties, are analyzed to understand their impact on consumer preferences. The study uses real-world eco-labels as visual stimuli, offering evidence-based insights for improving eco-label design.
