Abstract

This study delves into the development and characterization of hybrid vinyl ester composites reinforced with silane-treated Cyperus platystylis stem fiber and nickel oxide (NiO) nanoparticles. The research focuses on enhancing mechanical properties and electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding effectiveness, making these composites suitable for high-performance applications. Key topics include the surface treatment of natural fibers, the synthesis of NiO nanoparticles using an eco-friendly method, and the fabrication of composites with varying filler concentrations. The study also explores the mechanical behavior, thermal conductivity, dielectric properties, magnetic response, and EMI shielding effectiveness of the composites. The results demonstrate that the ABS1 composite, with an optimal NiO loading, exhibits superior mechanical strength and EMI shielding performance, achieving a total shielding effectiveness of 60 dB at 20 GHz. This research highlights the potential of these composites for structural and EMI-sensitive applications, offering a sustainable and efficient solution for industries requiring lightweight, multifunctional materials.
