Abstract

The article focuses on the investigation of Ti removal in 45Cr9Si3 valve steel using CaF2-Al2O3-CaO-SiO2-MgO-TiO2-type ESR slags with varying SiO2 contents. The study aims to understand the behavior of Ti removal and its impact on TiN inclusions and steel cleanliness. Laboratory-scale experiments and thermodynamic analyses were conducted to determine the optimal SiO2 content for Ti removal. The results show that increasing SiO2 content significantly reduces Ti content in steel and improves steel cleanliness. The study also highlights the importance of controlling the TiO2 content in slag to achieve effective Ti removal. The findings have practical implications for the steel industry, offering a systematic approach to controlling Ti content and improving steel quality during the ESR process.
