Abstract

The study focuses on the investigation of structural and photodetection properties of Gd2O3 thin films after annealing. Using electron beam evaporation, the films were deposited on silicon substrates and annealed at various temperatures. Structural analysis via XRD revealed improvements in crystallinity and reduction in lattice imperfections with optimal annealing at 500°C. XPS analysis demonstrated enhanced chemical stability and reduced oxygen vacancies post-annealing. Electrical analysis showed significant improvements in photocurrent and responsivity, with a notable reduction in defects and enhanced internal gain. The annealed samples exhibited superior photodetector performance, making them promising candidates for UV photodetector applications.
