Abstract

The chapter delves into the environmental challenges posed by the construction industry, particularly the high carbon emissions associated with building materials. It explores the potential of agro-waste as a sustainable alternative to natural aggregates in concrete production. The study evaluates the optimal percentage of agro-waste to achieve desired fresh and mechanical properties, such as workability, compressive strength, and durability. The findings highlight the trade-offs between increased flowability and reduced density versus decreased mechanical strength and increased shrinkage. The research offers valuable insights into the practical applications of agro-waste in concrete, contributing to the development of more environmentally friendly construction materials.
