Abstract

The chapter delves into the complexities of parallel composition of asynchronous multi-party computation (MPC) protocols, focusing on the differences between synchronous and asynchronous models. It explores the challenges in translating synchronous MPC protocols to their asynchronous counterparts, highlighting the inherent barriers and the limitations of existing approaches. The text presents a spectrum of results that separate asynchronous parallel composition from its synchronous counterpart, demonstrating the obstacles in achieving this goal. It also provides feasibility results for conditional protocol black-box parallel composition, offering insights into the conditions under which parallel composition can be achieved. Additionally, the chapter discusses the implications of these findings for the future development of secure multi-party computation protocols, emphasizing the need for further research in this area.
