Photoinduced hydrophilicity and self-cleaning characteristics of silicone-modified soya alkyd/TiO2 nanocomposite coating

Nano-TiO2-dispersed polymeric coatings have been extensively studied in recent years owing to their photocatalytic-induced self-cleaning characteristics. However, durability and long-term retention of self-cleaning performance of such coatings …

Optimized synthesis of highly reactive UV-curable hyperbranched polyester acrylates

Highly reactive radical polyester acrylates are widely used as UV-curing binder resins for printing inks, coatings, and materials for additive manufacturing. Especially for the latter, polyesters with low viscosities are of high interest, as they …

Enhanced corrosion resistance and weathering resistance of waterborne epoxy coatings with polyetheramine-functionalized graphene oxide

Polyetheramine (D230), an epoxy curing agent, was grafted on graphene oxide (GO) surfaces, which can be stably dispersed in a waterborne curing agent for more than 8 months. Waterborne epoxy coatings reinforced by D230-functionalized GO (DGO) were …

Flame retardancy and smoke suppression properties of transparent intumescent fire-retardant coatings reinforced with layered double hydroxides

A series of novel layered double hydroxide (LDH)-modified phosphate esters (LPPBs) flame retardants were synthesized by the reaction of flexible phosphate ester (PPB) and LDHs with different mass ratio and then well characterized by Fourier …

Wetting metamorphosis of hydrophobic fluoropolymer coatings submerged in water and ultrasonically vibrated

Many important processes—from the manufacturing of integrated circuit boards to an insect’s ability to walk on water—depend on the wetting of liquids on surfaces. Wetting is commonly controlled through material selection, coatings, and/or surface …

About this journal

Journal of Coatings Technology and Research (JCTR) is a forum for the exchange of research, experience, knowledge and ideas among those with a professional interest in the science, technology and manufacture of functional, protective and decorative coatings including paints, inks and related coatings and their raw materials, and similar topics.

JCTR offers Research papers, describing investigations of chemistry, physics, materials science and engineering studies relevant to surface coatings; Applications papers on experimental solutions for technological problems in the design, formulation, manufacture, application, use and performance of surface coatings; Review articles offering broad, critical overviews of advances in coatings science; and Brief Communications, presenting notes and letters on research topics of limited scope or immediate impact.

JCTR is published in cooperation with the American Coatings Association (ACA) .
