Abstract

The article delves into the spectroscopic properties of Dy:LPS, specifically analyzing its absorption spectrum and calculating Judd–Ofelt parameters to understand the spectral properties of the rare earth ion in the lutetium pyrosilicate crystal. A significant focus is the fabrication of a planar waveguide in Dy:LPS using H+ ion implantation, a process that enhances the material's potential for waveguide lasers. The study includes detailed experimental and simulation results, showcasing the waveguide's optical characteristics and confinement abilities. The findings suggest that Dy:LPS and the fabricated waveguide are promising for infrared optoelectronic devices, making it a compelling read for those interested in advanced materials and laser technology.
