Abstract

This chapter delves into the versatile technique of cyclic voltammetry, focusing on its application in studying the kinetics and enzyme electrochemical reactions. The text begins with an introduction to cyclic voltammetry, highlighting its role in investigating electroactive species, and then guides readers through a laboratory experiment using the Fe III (CN)63-/Fe II (CN)64 couple. Key parameters such as formal reduction potential, number of electrons transferred, diffusion coefficient, and electrochemical reversibility are determined through this experiment. The chapter also covers the electrochemical detection of thiocholine using acetylcholine esterase enzyme, providing detailed procedures and data analysis methods. Additionally, it explores the detection of tricresyl phosphate (TCP) using amperometric techniques, including the conversion of TCP to cresol and flow-injection amperometric measurement. The chapter concludes with a discussion on the results and their implications, offering a comprehensive overview of the experimental processes and findings.
