Abstract

In the present paper, the effect of the depth of the bedrock layer on the land subsidence of the Isfahan plain was studied. The geological bedrock layer was modeled by the results of obtained data from the geotechnical exploratory boreholes, depth of deep wells and geoelectrical in-situ imaging. Regarding the bedrock depth, the case study area was classified into six categories (None, very low, low, medium, high and very high) to show the land subsidence potential zones and to evaluate the risk of the vertical displacement of some critical places. The results indicate that the most of the historical buildings are located in very low-risk and low-risk of the land subsidence areas, however, some places such as Isfahan international airport need land subsidence consideration for any probable destructions due to the vertical displacements.
