Abstract

The chapter investigates the profound environmental changes in Segara Anakan Lagoon, Indonesia, driven by heavy sedimentation from the Citanduy River. It highlights the critical role of geospatial technology in mapping and monitoring these changes, focusing on the dynamic shifts in mangrove habitats over three decades. The study reveals how sedimentation has altered the lagoon's landscape, geomorphology, and vegetation cover, leading to significant socio-economic impacts on local communities. By employing the Land Use/Land Cover Change (LULCC) model, the research provides a detailed analysis of mangrove community distribution and predicts future scenarios based on different management strategies.
