The article presents the Urbant project, which aims to develop a transport robot for urban goods transport. This robot, designed to follow users on sidewalks at a speed of up to 6 km/h, offers a maximum payload of 60 kg and a range of 20 km. The development process is agile, involving iterative design loops and the use of test mules to evaluate different chassis concepts. The chosen two-bogie chassis allows bidirectional operation and safe obstacle negotiation. The powertrain consists of six brushless DC motors with electromechanical brakes, and the energy requirements are calculated based on simulated driving cycles. The robot's upper body can be customized for different transport needs, including shopping, parcels, and bulky goods. The project prospects include further user studies and a final field test.
