Many distances in urban areas can comfortably be covered on foot, by bicycle or by public transport. However, if large or heavy goods need to be transported, one's own car often seems indispensable. In the Urbant research project, the Institute for Automotive Engineering (ika) at RWTH Aachen University is developing a transport robot as an alternative to cars that can follow its users on sidewalks and autonomously deliver goods. …
