Abstract

The chapter delves into the evolution of stadium lighting, from gas discharge lamps to metal halide and now LED lighting. It highlights the advantages of LED lighting in energy efficiency but identifies challenges in achieving uniform illuminance. The study develops a computational model using MATLAB to simulate the performance of LED luminaires with different view angles and tilt angles. The results show that while LED luminaires can meet high illuminance requirements, they struggle with uniformity. The chapter concludes with the potential of combining different view angle luminaires to meet both illuminance and uniformity standards, offering valuable insights for stadium lighting design and optimization.
