There has been, over the past fifteen years, a renewed interest in the Black Power Movement, resulting in several finely crafted book manuscripts as well as numerous refereed journal articles in both mainstream outlets and Black Studies journals. Among the books on the topic that merit mention include Michael Fischbach’s Black Power and Palestine: Transnational Countries of Color (2018); Ashley Farmer’s Remaking Black Power: How Black Women Transformed an Era (2017); Tom Davies’ Mainstreaming Black Power (2017); Hasan Kwame Jeffries’ Bloody Lowndes: Civil Rights and Black Power in Alabama’s Black Belt (2009); Peniel E. Joseph’s Waiting ‘Till the Midnight Hour: A Narrative History of Black Power in America (2007); Judson L. Jeffries’ edited book Black Power in the Belly of the Beast (2006); and Jeffrey O.G. Ogbar’s Black Power: Radical Politics and African American Identity (2004). Perhaps, without even knowing it at the time, John T. McCartney set the tone in 1992 with Black Power Ideologies: An Essay in African American Political Thought.
