Abstract

The article presents a comprehensive study on the life prediction of residual current circuit breakers with overcurrent protection (RCBO) by employing a Tweedie exponential dispersion process with random effects. It addresses the gradual aging of RCBOs and the necessity of timely replacements to ensure system reliability. The conventional approach of collecting failure data is impractical due to the long operational lifespan of RCBOs. Therefore, the article proposes the use of accelerated degradation tests (ADT) to gather substantial degradation data within a short timeframe. The primary contributions include considering the effects of humidity and temperature on performance degradation, developing a performance degradation model based on the TED process with random effects, and integrating time-varying environmental factors into the life projection model. This approach ensures a more accurate fit of the degradation process and aligns life predictions with actual operating conditions. The article is organized into sections that detail the ADT process, model development, parameter solution, life calculation under different stress levels, and life estimation under actual conditions. The innovative methodology presented in this article offers a significant advancement in predicting the lifespan of RCBOs, enhancing system reliability and safety.
