Abstract

Youth peer mentors have been recognized as important facilitators for promoting positive youth development, especially among marginalized youth. Offering dual learning advantages, for both mentors and mentees, attributes of mentorship-based learning are conducive to the development of life skills among youth. This chapter explores three youth peer mentor programme models being practised in Delhi (Youth in Conflict with Law, Sports for Development Initiative for Adolescent Girls, and Tuition Support Center for first generation adolescent learners of low-income families.) Based on primary research, this chapter highlights key aspects leading to the success of these youth peer mentor programmes, within a life skills development framework.
