Abstract

Lignin, a complex polymer found in plant cell walls, is gaining attention for its diverse biomedical applications. This chapter explores the antioxidant, antibacterial, and anti-UV properties of lignin and its derivatives, highlighting their potential in treating various disorders like diabetes, obesity, and cancer. The text delves into the synthesis and modification of lignin nanoparticles (LNPs), discussing their role in drug delivery, gene therapy, and wound healing. It also covers the biocompatibility and biodegradability of lignin-based materials, making it a valuable resource for professionals interested in the latest developments in biomedical materials. The chapter concludes with a discussion on the challenges and limitations associated with LNP synthesis and use in biotechnology, providing a comprehensive overview of the current state and future prospects of lignin in the biomedical field.
