The body structures of battery electric vehicles have new lightweight design potential compared to passenger cars with combustion engines. Under the leadership of Automotive Center Südwestfalen (acs), eleven partners in the Lacef project have virtually investigated several front- section variants made of aluminum and steel in a crash load case with regard to a load-path-compliant design. A profile-intensive aluminum design and a sandwich-like steel-sheet structure was determined as promising solutions. …
