Zusammenfassung

„The major barrier to the implementation of the logistics concept is organizational“. (Christopher 2005, S. 262). Die englischsprachige Literatur kennt die definitorische Unterscheidung zwischen Aufbau- und Ablauforganisation nicht (Ähnlichkeiten gibt es aber im „ressourcenbasierten Ansatz“ der Analyse von Wettbewerbsvorteilen mit der Unterscheidung zwischen organisationaler und operativer Performance; vgl zu diesem Ansatz grundlegend Bamberger und Wrona 1996). Gemeint hat Christopher aber mit der Barriere wohl eine an Funktionen orientierte, mit abteilungsspezifischen Zielen und entsprechenden Budgettöpfen ausgestattete, Schnittstellen an den falschen Stellen setzende Aufbauorganisation, deren Überwindung auch Weber im Kopf hatte mit seiner Logistikdefinition, der zufolge „das Ziel der Logistik … darin (besteht), das Leistungssystem des Unternehmens flußorientiert auszugestalten“ (Weber 1999, S. 12). Mit dieser stolzen Zielsetzung wird gleich die gesamte Aufbauorganisation eines Unternehmens logistischen Anforderungen unterworfen.
