Lubricity Characters in van der Waals SnS2/Graphene and SnS2/NbTe2 Ohmic Interface

Abstract

The article investigates the lubricity characteristics of van der Waals SnS2/Graphene and SnS2/NbTe2 Ohmic interfaces using DFT simulations. It highlights the significant differences in energy corrugation, friction, and shear strength between the lattice-mismatched SnS2/Graphene system and the lattice-matched SnS2/NbTe2 system. The study reveals that the lattice-mismatched SnS2/Graphene interface exhibits much lower friction, attributed to weaker interface interactions and smoother potential energy fluctuations. The findings have implications for designing high-performance sliding electrical contacts in electromechanical systems, such as MEMS switches and micromotors.
