The model of sustainable development implies an approach, in which economic development is combined with environmental protection. This means that progress in environmental protection is achieved along with improvements in economic performance. Resources for realizing both goals may be generated from savings in investment funds that become available due to more efficient use of energy and materials as well as the less intensive use of waste treatment and waste disposal services.
