Abstract

The article presents a novel demand-side management (DSM) methodology using Rao optimization to address voltage unbalance in distribution networks. The method focuses on redistributing load demand to balance phase voltages without additional costs or complex architectures. Unlike traditional methods, this approach does not require lateral re-phasing or voltage compensation devices, making it more efficient and easier to implement. The article details the mathematical formulation, performance analysis, and results from a test system, demonstrating significant improvements in voltage balance and load distribution.
