The World's Strongest Adhesive
Delo Industrial Adhesives from Windach has broken the world record for the heaviest weight lifted with an adhesive. The new record of 17.5 t was officially verified by Guinness World Records. The company hence beat the old record by 7 percent.
Adhesives that form exceptionally strong bonds are fascinating to their users. In order to prove that its adhesives are not only the fastest and most versatile in the world, but also the strongest, adhesives manufacturer DELO set itself the goal of setting up a new world record, and managed to achieve it.
Three grams of adhesive hold a weight of 17.5 t
For this world record attempt, a 17.5 t truck, held by only three grams of adhesive, was lifted one metre off the ground by a crane. The entire weight of the truck was suspended for the duration of an hour, while only being stuck to an aluminium cylinder with a radius of 3.5 cm. This corresponds to the diameter of a soft drink can. With its new record, Delo has beaten the previous official record of 16.3 t by 7 percent.

Besides approx. 600 Delo workers, Bernhard Lachner (Rural District Office Landsberg am Lech) and Richard Michl (Mayor of Windach), who both attended the record attempt, were also delighted about the mid-sized company's success. An expert and an official Guinness World Records judge also attended the occasion to verify the record and congratulate the company. "We made it!" said Sabine Herold, managing partner of Delo. "The great result is an absolute team success, which also shows how we work every day. We don't shy away from challenges and we know our adhesives can live up to extremes," she continued.
The adhesive, which was specially developed for the record attempt, is a high-temperature-resistant Delo Monopox. The one-component, heat-curing epoxy resins in this product group are known for their high strength and are used in the automotive industry and mechanical engineering. Electric motors in electric cars, for example, would be inconceivable without these adhesives.
