Abstract

The COVID-19 outburst triggered all activity sectors, altering even the financial markets dynamics. And, the Islamic finance segment has not been spared. This chapter has a special focus on the market-timing abilities of Islamic funds to time stock markets before and during the COVID-19 pandemic era through cross-regional investigations, i.e., North America, Europe and Asia. The results reveal that only European Islamic funds’ managers exhibit market timing skills for the two-time spans. Equally, the Islamic funds’ excess of return appears to be associated with that of equity, but mixed results are displayed for each region.
