Rock Tech Lithium is collaborating with Fraunhofer Umsicht and supply chain tracking provider Circulor. Together they strive for transparency of the lithium value chain.
Rock Tech Lithium has agreed to collaborate with Fraunhofer Umsicht and supply chain tracking provider Circulor. The intended transparent value chain of lithium will extend from the raw material, spodumene, to the final product, lithium hydroxide. In the future, this should enable follow-up via the battery, its life cycle in the car and recycling. Rock Tech Lithium's first European lithium factory (converter) in Brandenburg (Germany) is set to become the industry’s first factory to aim for CO2 neutrality and a closed material loop for both lithium and other by-products.
Rock Tech is being supported by Fraunhofer Umsicht, which is responsible for recording all material and energy flows and calculating the life cycle assessment of processes along the entire value chain - from raw material to delivery of the lithium hydroxide. Circulor, a British green tech company, tracks raw materials in real time using a software solution. This offers Rock Tech the possibility of traceability of the lithium from the mine in Canada to the lithium hydroxide plant in Germany.
