Abstract

The chapter introduces a novel multi-objective Gauss–Newton algorithm for estimating the amplitude, phase, and frequency of non-stationary sinusoids in power and communication signals. Traditional methods struggle with time-varying frequencies and noise, but this algorithm simplifies the recursive Gauss–Newton method to reduce computational complexity and improve estimation accuracy. The algorithm uses two error minimization functions and iteratively tuned forgetting factors to handle noisy signals effectively. It outperforms existing methods in simulations and real-time experiments, demonstrating superior performance in tracking time-varying parameters and handling harmonics. The chapter also includes a detailed performance analysis and comparative discussion, showcasing the algorithm's advantages over other state-of-the-art methods.
