Abstract

This chapter delves into the MATLAB/SIMULINK modeling of a horizontal-axis variable-speed wind turbine system, emphasizing the influence of wind speed variations on turbine output and dynamic responses. The study covers key components such as the turbine, gearbox, and generator, providing a detailed block diagram of the wind turbine system. It explores the wind model, turbine modeling, and simulation of turbine operation, highlighting the aerodynamic power and torque captured by the turbine. Simulation results include variations in wind speed, power coefficient, turbine power, and rotational speed, offering insights into the turbine's performance under different conditions.
