Abstract

The article investigates the impact of thermal cycling on TiN/Ti multilayer coatings, focusing on their mechanical properties and sand erosion resistance. The study reveals the effects of high-temperature oxidation and thermal cycling on the coatings' microhardness, adhesion strength, and overall performance. By subjecting the coatings to three thermal cycles at 500°C, the research offers insights into the damage mechanisms and potential improvements for aero-engine components operating in harsh environments.
