Abstract

The study investigates the mechanical properties of carbide-free bainite in steels, highlighting the potential of ausforming to accelerate bainite transformation kinetics. By applying tensile strains at different temperatures, the research reveals that deformation significantly reduces the incubation time for bainite formation and accelerates the transformation rate. Optical metallography and electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) confirm these findings, showing that the final volume fraction of carbide-free bainite remains high regardless of the applied strain. The article also explores the effects of ausforming on mechanical properties, such as yield strength and fracture strain, providing valuable insights for the development of high-strength, crashworthy steels in the automotive industry. The comprehensive analysis of transformation kinetics and mechanical properties makes this article a crucial resource for specialists in materials science and metallurgy.
