Abstract

The article discusses a new method for characterizing soil electrical resistivity using the Wenner method and FEM calculations. It addresses the challenges posed by classical methods in soils with thin high resistivity layers, which are common in desert environments. The novel method incorporates FEM calculations to improve accuracy and bypass the limitations of classical analytical equations. The method was tested on various soil types, including normal soil and extreme soil conditions, and demonstrated superior accuracy compared to classical methods. However, the computational time required for the new method is significantly higher. The authors recommend using this method specifically for soils with thin high resistivity layers and suggest further optimizations to reduce computational time.
