Abstract

The article discusses the sustainable production of antibacterial and medicinal textiles, focusing on the challenges posed by the use of hazardous chemicals in the textile industry. It introduces chitosan and lime oil as promising natural alternatives for creating eco-friendly, antibacterial fabrics. The micellar synthesis of lime oil-loaded chitosan microstructures is detailed, along with their application on cellulosic fabric using citric acid as a green crosslinker. The resulting fabric is characterized for textile properties, antibacterial activity, and the release profiles of the encapsulated lime oil. The study concludes that this approach offers a sustainable solution for durable antibacterial activity in textiles, with potential applications in medical textiles and personal protective equipment.
