This volume’s contributors investigate a “new research focus” (11) on management reforms in international organizations. Noting that the “bureaucratic interior” (11) of international organizations often slips between the disciplinary cracks among international relations, comparative public administration, organizational theory and political science, they successfully address the empirical and analytical gaps facing concerned scholars. Because investigating the bureaucratic interior of any public organization is a difficult task, the editors narrow the focus by examining only management reforms. They do so across 12 international organizations and nine chapters. Organized studies include the Council of Baltic States, European Commission, European Parliament, European Central Bank (ECB), Nordic Council, Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), United Nations Development Program (UNDP), United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), World Bank, and the World Health Organization (WHO).
