Abstract

The article delves into the challenges of extracting thick oil due to its high viscosity and explores the effectiveness of hot water flooding as a recovery method. Using digital core technology, the study collects and analyzes microscopic CT images of thick oil sands from the Bohai LD 5-2 oilfield. The research focuses on the pore structure and seepage mechanisms of hot water flooding, revealing the impact of temperature and injection rate on oil recovery. Numerical simulations are employed to model and predict the behavior of hot water flooding, providing valuable insights into optimizing the recovery process. The findings highlight the potential of hot water flooding to enhance oil recovery in offshore heavy oil reservoirs, offering practical recommendations for field implementation.
