Abstract

This chapter delves into the design and optimization of a compact microstrip patch antenna tailored for both 5G mobile communications and Ka-band satellite communications, operating at the 26 GHz frequency. The study highlights the versatility and advantages of microstrip patch antennas, including their compact size, planar structure, and ease of integration into various devices. The research focuses on two adaptation techniques—quarter-wave and inset feed methodologies—to enhance the antenna's radiating capabilities. Extensive simulations using CST Studio Suite and Ansoft HFSS software were conducted to assess critical metrics such as the S11 reflection coefficient, VSWR, and gain. The results demonstrate the superior performance of the inset feed technique, achieving significant return loss and optimal bandwidth. The chapter also includes a comparative analysis with recent works, emphasizing the antenna's compact size, good adaptation, and minimal reflection loss. The findings underscore the potential of this antenna design for high-data-rate communications and its applicability across diverse sectors, including transportation, medicine, military operations, surveillance, and security.
