Abstract

The article focuses on the microstructure evolution and mechanical properties of TiC/Ti6Al4V composites fabricated via selective laser melting (SLM). It discusses the unique processing principles of SLM, which involve rapid heating and cooling rates leading to non-equilibrium microstructures. The study highlights the addition of TiC particles to enhance the mechanical performance of Ti6Al4V alloys, exploring the formation of in-situ TiC phases and their impact on the composite's strength and hardness. The research also addresses challenges such as the distribution of reinforcing phases and the interface bonding mechanisms. The findings provide valuable guidance for manufacturing complex TiC/Ti6Al4V composite structural parts with superior properties, emphasizing the potential applications of SLM technology in industries such as aerospace and automotive.
