Abstract

The article delves into the microwave-assisted grafting of alginate/sericin with acrylic acid-co-acrylamide to encapsulate NPK fertilizer. It discusses the optimization of reaction parameters such as temperature, time, and monomer ratios to achieve high grafting efficiency. The resulting beads exhibit unique properties, including controlled release of fertilizer and enhanced water retention. The study also includes characterization techniques such as FTIR, TGA, DSC, and XRD to validate the structure and thermal stability of the beads. The release characteristics of the fertilizer from the beads are analyzed using various models, highlighting the potential of this technology for sustainable agriculture.
