Abstract

The article delves into the complexities of mining-induced displacement and resettlement (MIDR) in Ghana, focusing on the Amansie South and West Districts. It highlights the socioeconomic challenges faced by communities affected by MIDR, such as loss of social capital, alterations in economic activities, and lower life satisfaction. The study also underscores the positive aspects of MIDR, including improved infrastructure and increased disposable income. However, it emphasizes the need for better awareness of regulations and more effective legislative frameworks to mitigate the adverse effects of MIDR. The research is based on a mixed-method approach, combining qualitative interviews and quantitative surveys, to provide a comprehensive understanding of the issue.
