Abstract

This chapter delves into the development of ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC) for precast buildings, highlighting its superior strength and durability compared to regular concrete. The text explores the mix components, including Portland cement, silica fume, and various sands, and discusses the optimization of particle packing to enhance strength and reduce porosity. It also covers the fresh and hardened properties of UHPC, such as its high workability and rapid strength gain. The chapter provides detailed insights into the mixing and casting processes, emphasizing the importance of high-shear mixers and proper curing regimes to achieve the desired properties. Additionally, it presents case studies and proprietary mix proportions developed in collaboration with industry partners, offering practical guidance for professionals in the field.
