Abstract

The chapter delves into the usability issues of mobile app authentication systems for users of the Cyrillic alphabet. Through a pilot study, the authors investigate the most commonly used authentication methods and the specific features of Cyrillic passwords. The research reveals that password authentication is the most prevalent but also the most inconvenient method. Furthermore, it uncovers the unique practice of using transliterated Cyrillic words as passwords, highlighting the need for better support in authentication tools. The study underscores the importance of considering the needs of non-Latin script users in designing mobile authentication solutions, setting the stage for further research in this critical area.
