About this book

This book introduces readers to mobile information services for networks. The content is divided into eight chapters, each of which presents a specific concept and the latest related developments in mobile information services. Mobile information services for networks can be defined as platform-independent functional entities that provide various services based on the communication network platform. The book discusses the three main supporting technologies for mobile information services: neighbor discovery in the data link layer; routing and balanced association in the network layer; and community structure detection in the application layer. Lastly, the book describes the development of applications based on the authors’ mobile information service platform, as well as related key technologies in the domains of intelligent transportation, smart tourism, and mobile payment, such as trajectory analysis, location recommendation, and mobile behavior authentication, which are promoting the development of mobile information services.

This book offers a valuable reference guide for researchers in the field of computer science and technology, as well as those in the field of network mobile information service technology.

Table of Contents

Chapter 1. Preliminary of Mobile Information Service for Networks
With the rapid development of network technology, mobile information service for networks is an important part of people’s lives. This chapter first describes the concept of mobile information service for networks and the general network architecture. Then this chapter introduces the classification of the mobile information services for networks, and finally lists the roles of key technologies in mobile information service for networks according to a hierarchical structure. In this book, network neighbor discovery technology, efficient network routing, user association technology, and network community detection technology will be elaborated later. After introducing these main technologies, this book will introduce mobile information service platform for networks and related applications in intelligent transportation, smart tourism, and mobile payment. Mobile information service for networks involves many techniques and methods. This book is only a summary of authors’ recent innovative work about smart city. We hope that with the development of the times, new technologies will emerge continuously.

Chapter 2. Technology of Neighbor Discovery for Networks
Neighbor discovery is one of the basic technologies of mobile information service for networks. It is the key to discover the surrounding nodes at the data link layer and organize the network effectively. Firstly, this chapter introduces the basic concept and the development of neighbor discovery in detail. According to popular social application scenarios, efficient neighbor discovery algorithms (Erupt and Centron) are introduced. In these algorithms, the Erupt algorithm divides the nodes into two categories according to their roles: the sponsor node and the participant node. Using a recession strategy, the sponsor consumes more energy in exchange for higher discovery efficiency. By creating a core group, the Centron algorithm solves the problem that communications between nodes will be affected by frequent collisions in the crowded region, which reduces the efficiency of discovery. The above algorithms are proved to be efficient in terms of energy, efficiency, and delay. Besides, these algorithms can provide inspirations for how to design better neighbor discovery algorithms in the future.

Chapter 3. High Efficient Routing and Balanced Association Technology of Mobile Networks
This chapter provides a detailed introduction of the important network layer technologies in network information services, i.e. efficient routing and user association technologies. For the multi-hop Ad hoc self-organized network, in the slow mobile user network scenario and the fast IoV scenario, the data forwarding algorithm LASS based on local activity and social similarity and the IoV cognitive routing protocol QCR based on traffic flows are given. In addition, for the centralized cellular network, by focusing on the spatial-temporal characteristics of the flows of people/vehicles, by means of reinforcement learning, user association load balancing is realized in a dynamic environment, which provides a high-quality service rate for mobile users. Routing and user association technologies are designed to achieve efficient data transfer in information services. They are network layer technologies at different network architecture levels. The content of this chapter provides the basis of “data highway” for the development of network mobile information services.

Chapter 4. Network Community Detection
This chapter introduces one of the important technologies of the application layer of network mobile information services, community structure discovery technology. As for the social attributes of mobile information services brought about by human activities, the community exploration methods for different scenarios are given from the perspective of the underlying communication network architecture. The focus of this chapter is to discover the relationship between the underlying communication architecture and the top-level community discovery to intuitively establish a community structure based on actual communication conditions. This has great benefits for discovering potential relationships and exploring unknown network structures.

Chapter 5. Platform of Mobile Information Service for Networks
This chapter mainly introduces the architecture of the mobile information service platform for networks. The detailed business process description is given for the optimization subsystem of resource scheduling, online monitoring subsystem of network transaction, and the traffic online analysis and service subsystem. In the sixth, seventh and eighth chapters, based on the platform, the latest work of mobile information service for networks will be introduced in three aspects: intelligent transportation, smart tourism, and mobile payment.

Chapter 6. Intelligent Transportation
In this chapter, utilizing tensor decomposition, similarity analysis, HMM, GMM and other data analysis tools, we analyze the feature of vehicle behaviors and traffic flows to select routes and identify dangerous behaviors of surrounding vehicles. We further expand the applications of intelligent transportation information services and improve peoples’ travel experiences.

Chapter 7. Smart Tourism
In this chapter, we first analyze and summarize the current hotspot platforms and Apps of smart tourism at home and abroad. On this basis, we focus on the key application layer technology, the POI recommendation technology, in smart tourism. In view of the problems of sparse check-in data and long tensor factorization time, the recommendation method that can accurately recommend the POIs to the users and reduce the calculation time is given according to the similar characteristics of users, time-slots and POIs. In addition, besides the recommendation of the single POI, a personalized POI sequence recommendation method is given, which further improves users’ experience of smart tourism POI services.

Chapter 8. Mobile Payment Authentication
The user’s behavior features are unique and hardly to be imitated, identity authentication based on user behaviors has become a research hotspot. However, none of the existing research has considered the influence of user posture on users’ gesture behavior authentication. In order to make the identity authentication method adapt to the use of the application in different postures, this chapter presents a touch screen behavior authentication system based on user gestures. We collect the user’s gesture behavior data through the touch screen of the mobile phone, collect the user’s posture behavior data through the mobile phone’s orientation sensor and acceleration sensor, and finally extract the user’s posture behavior features and gesture behavior features. In addition, based on this authentication system architecture, we respectively provide two forms of authentication model construction methods: login authentication and continuous authentication. It is possible to monitor from user login to the entire usage process for improving the payment security of mobile devices by using login authentication and continuous authentication comprehensively.
