Abstract

The chapter delves into the critical issue of managing electric vehicle (EV) charging loads on expressways to maintain grid stability. It introduces a joint modeling approach that combines traffic flow analysis with charging station services, utilizing classical fluid theory and queue service theory. The study highlights the need for orderly charging management to prevent grid overloads and ensures smooth highway traffic. The authors also review existing research on optimal charging station placement, scheduling algorithms, and grid load modeling. The chapter concludes with a detailed methodology for estimating the number of EVs requiring charging at different highway sections, offering practical insights for future grid management strategies.
