Abstract

This chapter delves into the complexities of integrating sustainability into productivity management within the construction industry. It highlights the challenges contractors face, such as resource constraints, technology gaps, and inadequate legal frameworks, and explores how the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) framework can be a viable solution. The study identifies key factors that drive and hinder Contractors’ Sustainability Productivity Management (CSPM), including financial planning, customer satisfaction, process optimization, and learning and growth. Through a systematic research methodology involving Delphi interviews, the chapter proposes a formal model that links sustainability to productivity, offering practical recommendations for stakeholders. The findings emphasize the importance of aligning financial planning with innovation strategies, maintaining high-quality standards, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and adaptability. Ultimately, the chapter provides a roadmap for contractors to enhance their sustainability practices while improving operational efficiency.
