Abstract

This chapter delves into the critical role of service quality in shaping commuter satisfaction and loyalty within Bengaluru's metro system, Namma Metro. By employing Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), the study identifies key factors such as amenities, service availability, smooth transitions, and anxiety that significantly influence user satisfaction and loyalty. The analysis reveals that amenities, including lighting and parking facilities, are pivotal in enhancing passenger safety and convenience. Service availability, particularly adherence to scheduled timings and minimizing waiting times, is crucial for managing crowds and ensuring a seamless travel experience. Smooth transitions, facilitated by clear information and disabled-friendly structures, further enrich the passenger experience. Notably, anxiety related to safety and security emerges as a critical factor negatively impacting satisfaction. The chapter also discusses the implications of these findings for policy-making and urban planning, highlighting the importance of addressing these factors to promote metro usage and reduce reliance on private vehicles. The study's innovative use of SEM and its focus on specific, actionable insights set it apart from other analyses in the field.
