Abstract

The chapter delves into the modeling, simulation, and stability evaluation of double-trailer combinations, highlighting the regulatory framework and technological advancements in China. It reviews existing research on double-trailer stability and introduces the use of TruckSim software for dynamic simulations. The modeling process is meticulously detailed, including vehicle body, steering system, tires, axle systems, powertrain, and load modeling. The established simulation model is validated through comparisons with real-world test data. The chapter also presents in-depth analyses of handling stability through steering wheel step input tests and single-lane change tests, revealing critical insights into vehicle dynamics and potential design improvements.
