Abstract

The article 'Modeling the Behavior of Shallow Continuous Tunnels Subjected to Active Dip-Slip Faults' delves into the critical issue of tunnel stability in the presence of active faults. It highlights the significance of understanding fault parameters and their impact on tunnel behavior. The research combines physical modeling through centrifuge testing and numerical modeling using FLAC 3D software to predict tunnel performance and validate results. The study explores various scenarios, including different tunnel diameters, overburden depths, and fault angles, to assess tunnel stability and damage levels. The findings provide valuable insights into the behavior of tunnels under fault conditions, emphasizing the importance of careful design and construction practices to mitigate potential hazards.
