Abstract

The article introduces a novel approach to modeling the obsolescence of models, focusing on the need to maintain the 'freshness' of models in model-driven and low-code development environments. It presents a domain-specific language (DSL) that allows the specification of obsolescence rules at design time and an obsolescence engine that evaluates these rules at runtime. The approach is illustrated through a mobility case study, demonstrating how it can help maintain the consistency and relevance of models over time. The article also discusses the implementation of the approach using the BESSER platform and compares it with related works in the field, highlighting its unique contributions to proactive obsolescence management.
